Just recently, the ‘Rimai’ crew made a significant appearance at various rallies held in Kathmandu for the 31st World Indigenous Day. Their participation wasn’t just about promoting the film; it was a powerful statement! The entire team joined in with a clear message: to preserve the unique identity and rich culture of indigenous communities. They were seen enjoying the festivities, carrying banners, placards, and posters with the film’s name, all while dancing to traditional tunes.
The ‘Rimai’ team emphasized that for them, World Indigenous Day isn’t just a celebration. It’s a powerful symbol of the ongoing struggle for rights, equality, and cultural respect. This commitment truly shines through in the film itself. Director Khil Bahadur Gurung shared that ‘Rimai’ aims to portray the authentic stories, vibrant cultures, and real challenges faced by indigenous communities. The team proudly states that their involvement in World Indigenous Day sends a clear message: that artists and filmmakers are deeply aware of and committed to crucial social and cultural issues.
The captivating story of ‘Rimai’ was penned by Upendra Subba, and the beautiful visuals were captured by cinematographer Shailendra Dhwaj Karki. The film boasts a talented ensemble cast, featuring well-known names like Dayahang Rai, Rishma Gurung, Arpan Thapa, Buddi Tamang, Gaumaya Gurung, Kabita Ale Magar, Maotse Gurung, Puskar Gurung, Birmaya Gurung, Beerbal Ghale, Dibi Gurung, and Tek Gurung. You’ll also get to see the fresh faces of child artists Asim Subba, Prestu Gurung, and Prashna Rana Magar.
Behind the scenes, Beerbal Ghale serves as the executive producer, while Tika Gurung, Jit Yatri Gurung, and Dun Bahadur Ghale are the producers. The film is a presentation from Gorkha Siranchok & Ligligkot Films and was produced in collaboration with Roteping Entertainment.
