Exciting news for fans eagerly awaiting ‘War 2’! The spy-action film, starring Hrithik Roshan, Jr. NTR, and Kiara Advani, is all set to hit cinemas on August 14, 2025. It’s even getting great buzz for its teaser, trailer, and the first song, ‘Aavan Jaavan’.

However, before its big release, the film went through a review by the Central Film Certification Board (CBFC), often known as the Censor Board, and they’ve requested a few changes.

What’s Changing in ‘War 2’?

The Censor Board has made a total of six cuts in the film. Don’t worry, the film’s action scenes are completely untouched! The changes mainly focus on content the board found inappropriate:

Sensual Scenes: A 9-second sensual scene between Hrithik Roshan and Kiara Advani has been cut. In fact, the board asked makers to reduce sensual scenes by 50% overall, including a 9-second segment that might involve Kiara Advani’s bikini look from the ‘Aavan Jaavan’ song, which has been quite a topic of discussion online.
Obscene Dialogue: One line of dialogue that the board found “obscene” has been changed.
Inappropriate Gestures: A two-second scene featuring an “obscene” gesture from a character has also been removed.
Unsuitable References: The board also asked for some “inappropriate references” to be muted.

The Movie’s Final Runtime

After these changes were made, ‘War 2’ received a U/A 16+ certificate on August 6, with an initial runtime of 179.49 minutes (that’s 2 hours, 59 minutes, and 49 seconds).

But here’s a fun fact: just two days later, on August 8, the filmmakers went back to the Censor Board and voluntarily made the movie even shorter! They trimmed about 8 more minutes, bringing the final runtime down to 171.44 minutes (2 hours, 51 minutes, and 44 seconds).

There’s also buzz about a special post-credit scene in ‘War 2’. This scene is rumored to feature Shah Rukh Khan as Pathaan and Salman Khan as Tiger, along with Alia Bhatt and Sharvari Wagh. It’s expected to act as a teaser for ‘Alpha’, the next film in the YRF Spy Universe!
